| 9/7/2009 - | BEACH WHEELCHAIR |
| Today we will present to the public our new Beach Wheelchair for the disabled. This wheelchair is designed to to get the disabled from the "Oasis" to the waterfront. It will be available to the public on a first-come basis and be free of charge. A huge THANK-YOU goes out to all those involved in raising the funds needed to purchase this wheelchair. | |
| 5/28/2010 - | WE ARE NOW WIRELESS |
| We are now wireless....... That's right! You can now bring your lap-top to the beach and connect to the internet. The BOSS does not need to know that you were not in your stuffy office when you completed that work assignment. He does not need to know that you were sucking down a cold one, people watching and listening to some great music while working overtime. | |
| 4/2/2011 - | Summer Sand Volleyball league |

| 5/4/2011 - | CREDIT CARDS |
| The "OASIS" now accepts credit cards (VISA/MASTERCARD). So now you don't have to borrow cash from your friends or keep running to the ATM machine a half mile away, thus loosing your parking spot. It's so easy now to blow your whole weeks earnings and don't have to worry about it until the end of the month. So go ahead and buy a round of drinks for your buddies. | |
| 5/11/2011 - | TODAY'S THOUGHT |
| It's better to have "LOVED AND LOST" than to live with a phycho for the rest of your life. | |
| 5/29/2011 - | RESPECT THE NEIGHBORS |
| The homeowners along Michigan Blvd. have had to endure some major changes the last couple of years. The Oasis opened, the Kid's Cove was built, and the bike trail completed. Traffic along Michigan Blvd. has increased (both pedestrian and vehicle) and the use of the beach park is at an all time high. Please respect the neighbors and don't litter, pick up after your dog, don't park and party in front of their homes. | |
| 6/10/2011 - | The "OASIS" in JEOPARDY |
| NEWS FLASH... The "OASIS" has been notified by Donnie Snow, director of Parks & Rec., that the City of Racine, plans on restructuring the North Beach Oasis. What-ever that means. We have been told not to book any company picnics, graduation parties, wedding receptions, birthday parties, class reunions or anything else past the end of our ten (10) lease, witch expires Dec. 31.2011. For fourteen years prior to the Oasis, the building sat vacant. The city had basicly washed their hands of it. The park was home for many homeless people who used the bathrooms for bathing and doing laundry, perverts, and drug addicts. (It was the number one drug spot in Racine County). Today, after 10 years, it is now considered to be the number #1 top tourist attaction in Racine County. The "OASIS" was a major factor in turning things around at Racine's North Beach. Countless hours of hard work has brought it to were it is today. A safe family friendly place were thousands of people enjoy our lakefront every year. It's a shame to see everything we have worked so hard for go down the drain. |

| 7/20/2011 - | THANKS FOR ALL THE SUPPORT |
| I would like to say "THANK YOU" to everyone for your concern and support for the "Oasis". It's truely overwelming. I have no idea if we will be back next year or not. I guess we will just have to wait and see. For those of you who have expressed in interest in wanting to help keep the "Oasis" as it is, I suggest you call your Alderperson or the Mayor and let them know what you think. Sincerely, Paul |

| 9/15/2011 - | THE WAITING IS OVER.. TIME TO MOVE ON... |
| I have mixed emotions, having just learned that the City Parks Department has recommended that someone else operate the Oasis. At first it felt that like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I would now be able to spend more time with my family. Going up to the cottage, boating, golfing and doing all the things families do together in the summertime. Then sadness came over me, as I imagined not being able to interact with all of the friends I have met and come to know at the Oasis. The smiles, laughter, great music and good times would now be gone. I questioned myself about what I could have done different, what more could I have done? In reality, NOTHING.. My original goal was to clean up North Beach of the undesireables and return it to the tax payers to enjoy. During the past ten years, I did exactly that. (NOTE: Prior to the Oasis, the north beach park was considered the number one drug spot in Racine. It was overrun with homeless, drug addicts, perverts and gangs.) It is now considered the number one tourist attraction in Racine County, generating over three million dollars in tourism dollars to local business's. It also is now ranked one of the top ten family friendly beaches in the United States. We hosted world class triathlons and the EVP world volleyball championships. Held art festivals to benefit missing and exploited children until the parks department put such financial constraints that we had to discontinue the fair. We held sand castle building contests for childred, brought in Zumba at the beach, provided free entertainment with live bands, and hosted countless wedding receptions, graduation parties, birthday parties, class reunion get-togethers. Well I guess this was not enough for our city fathers. They want more. They want to take it to the next level. The people awarded the new contract promise to bring in milk shakes and vegie burgers. To bad I never thought of that. Oh! Well.. The Oasis has been a big part of my life for the past ten years, but now it's time to pass the tourch. I just hope and pray that the new operators continue to share my vision. My biggest fear is that all of the countless hours and hard work was not done in vain. Thanks for the memories, God Bless Paul Curtin |
